Martin Baehr *10.03.1943 - ✝ 17.04.2019

Martin Baehr, our predecessor, legendary carabid expert, among many other things (such as author of an Onychophora species), has passed away shortly before Easter. We will do our very best to keep him alive in our memories and deeds. Wherever he might be right now, we trust that he is naming things.

• Dr. Oliver Hawlitschek, DFG PhD student (now at CENAK Hamburg) - finished his PhD summa cum laude - excellent! now Laboratory Leader and Researcher at CENAK Hamburg

• Dr. Emmanuel F.A. Toussaint, DFG PhD student, first in the Andrew Short lab in Kansas - USA, then with Akito Kawahara, Florida University and finally curator / research officer at the museum in Geneva Also finished summa cum laude ! He won the 2016 RJH Hintelmann award for excellence in zoological systematics.

• Dr Matthew van Dam, NSF Postdoc, DFG Postdoc

• Dr Athena Lam, MSc, DFG PhD Student (UC Berkeley). She came as Athena, and the beauty of water beetles transformed her to Dr Lam. Congratulations! Athena is now lab director at the California Academy of Sciences · Center for Comparative Genomics

• Dr René Tänzler MSc, INDOBIOSYS management, ZSM lab manager and now at AIM bioservices

• Dr. Bruno Cancian de Araujo, who ran our INDOBIOSYS related activities at ZSM. He is not back to Brazil and working as an independent consultant with us.

• Dr Carolin Kindler (DFG Postdoctoral Fellow, 12.2017-2.2018), Research Assistant (and unfortunately not for too long) and now Forensics Scientist at Eurofins
